About the artist,

Werner Wirth, artist,

A wildlife, landscape and also a pet artist who deals primarily in realism using acrylics on stretched canvas, illustration board and

300 lb. paper.

Drawing and painting came quite naturally for me at an early stage of my life while growing up in Hinton, Alberta surrounded by my primary subject matter, the foothills and the beautiful Canadian Rockies.

Up until 1986 when I was heavily involved in the designing of the artistic venues for the Alberta Winter Games Association in Edson Alberta, I realized that my art at this point in time was merely a hobby which evolved into a need and a  passion to create art.

I dabbled in layout, cartooning, metal etching and of course painting, which was all inspired by the likes of Robert Bateman, Carl Brenders and other prominent wildlife and landscape artists.

I love painting realism as I find that not only is this where my passion lies but also enjoy the challenge of creating a lifelike image. Yes, though this pursuit of realism left me wide open to all sorts of criticism, I was not to be dissuaded and pushed on as mimicking the perfection of nature which was to become my greatest challenge.

I enjoy painting with acrylic rather than oil simply due to the layering process involved and it's also comparatively easy to work with from a personal point of view.

I am always open to a variety of commissioned artwork and enjoy working with people on their vision of any particular subject.

When not engaged in painting, I enjoy cooking gourmet meals, travelling with my wife

and reading a vast variety of books ranging from fact to fiction.
